Who & What:
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of our Battle of the Books team at Gold Hill Elementary!! We ask that your child choose 3 titles to read over the summer and fall. Your child DOES NOT need to read all the books on the list. He/She will be responsible for becoming an expert on at least 3 of these books. The team will be able to work together to answer questions during the battle so when grouped together the team will have covered all the books on the list.
Do not feel like you need to purchase the books! All titles will be available to check out from the school office over the summer during normal operating hours (Monday-Thursday 9:00-2:00). Just be sure to return them when you are done so another team member can check it out to read! You can also find these books at the public library. Students can also check out the books from the school library once school begins again.
When & Where:
Practices will be held on Monday afternoons after school from September 13th- November 8th. More information will come home at the beginning of the next school year. Please bring an after school snack, as food will not be provided. Students will need to be picked up promptly at 3:00 at the front of the school. If your child attends FLYERS at GHES we will make sure they are dropped off. There will be a $25 fee for joining Battle of the Books which will need to be paid in the fall before the first after school practice. More information will come on that at the beginning of the school year. This fee will cover t-shirts for your child, an end of season celebration, books and all the expenses that will go into hosting our battle!

November 8th 8:00-9:30: Battle of the Books competition at GHES!
November 20th 10:00 District Battle at FMSD District Office for top two teams!
